Description

Sunday, September 24 in the downtown Portsmouth area we need volunteers to stand along the route to direct walkers along the route. Walk starts at 10am and most walkers are done by 11/11:30am.

Walkers will cheers people on, point them in the right direction, and assist anyone if needed. All walkers will have the volunteer coordinators cell phone if anyone where to need anything.

The Walk to End Alzheimer's starts at Little Harbour School in Portsmouth. Offers a 3 mile, 1 mile and 1/2 mile route for all abilities. Which is why we need so many volunteers!

This event is held annually in more that 600 communities nationwide. Portsmouth's is one of the best walks due to location, participant fundraising and spirit.  Typically families, corporate teams, and senior organizations walk to support a positive spirit of ending this terrible disease.

Whether dementia has touched your life in some way, or you just like helping out at fun community events - we would love to have your volunteer a couple hours of your time on Sun, Sept 24.

Volunteer shifts:

Route Cheerleaders/Guides: 10:00am-11:30ish (groups welcome)

Early Morning Jack of All Trades: 8am-10:00am

Greeter: 8:30am-10:30am (this position is perfect for a pair of people)

Registration/Shirt hander-outer: 8:00am-10am

**Please note: the Portsmouth Senior Activity Center is helping to organize volunteers but the event is hosted and coordinated by the Alzheimer's Association NH/MA chapter.***
